Looking Back and Looking Forward

Written on Thursday, 19th January 2017

We can look back to 2016 with much satisfaction.  Our best year in terms of prize money, (over £800,000) 49 winners, of which the highlights were our star stayers, NEARLY CAUGHT (Prix de Kergolay G2) and SWEET SELECTION (Cesarewitch) both of which remain in training in 2017.

For 2017 we have a strong group of older horses (4 year old plus). In addition to the above two, we have, the progressive stayer MARMELO, hopefully a back to form VENT DE FORCE, PIROUETTE who could be very exciting in fillies seven furlongs and mile Pattern races.   FUN MAC could pick up a big staying handicap or Pattern race.

The three years olds, largely a staying group, gives the "team" much to be excited about .  TEMPLE CHURCH by winning the "Hayes, Handson & Clark" advertised his Pattern race credentials over ten to twelve furlongs.  The Maiden winners BUZZ and PRIVATE MISSION have plenty of improvement in them, as do a whole handful of (hopefully) well handicapped future stayers.

We have some lovely two years olds.  Most of which are bred to stay – 2 x Sea the Stars, 2 x So You Think, a Galileo and 2 x Camelots, 3 x Nathaniels, a Dansili (Shirocco Star’s first foal) a Big Bad Bob (1/2 sister to VENT DE FORCE and MARMELO), plus some scopey speedy horses by Mayson (1/2 brother to DUTCH LAW), a Lethal Force, 2 x Equiano etc.

So far 2017 has started really well with AURORA GRAY winning twice, and with our handful of hurdlers we have much to concentrate on before the flat season gets into full swing in the Spring.
